Operation Round Up gives more than $24,000 to community programs
Grand Rapids, MN – Lake Country Power’s Operation Round Up® Trust Board approved $24,507 in contributions to local community programs during its most recent quarterly meeting. The cooperative’s Trust Board reviewed and considered 20 grant applications and distributed funds to the following community-based projects and programs:
Community Service:

• Sheriff’s Mounted Posse of Cass County
• Iron Range Historical Society
• Faith in Action for Cass County
• Bethel Lutheran Church Women, Scanlon
• Jacobson Fire Department
• White Oak Classic Sled Dog Race, Deer River
• Itasca County Historical Society
• The Forget-Me-Not Foundation of Itasca County
• American Indian Services, ISD #318 Grand Rapids
Education and Youth:
• Northeast Country Swim Boosters, Babbitt-Embarrass
• Cook Area Save Our Swim
• Itasca Orchestra and Strings Program
• Grand Rapids FFA
• Children’s Dental Services, Iron Range
Emergency Energy Assistance and Relief:
• KOOTASCA Community Action, Inc.
Community Economic Assistance:
• Eagle Lake Cemetery, Cromwell
Community Service/Education and Youth:
• Bovey/Coleraine Youth Center
Operation Round Up® is a charitable program unique to electric co-ops that is designed to provide financial assistance to worthwhile activities and community projects by “rounding up” member’s electric bills to the nearest dollar. Since the program’s inception in October 2004, $690,213 has been distributed to 524 community- based projects and programs.
Of the funds collected through the program, 100 percent is distributed to charitable organizations. Operation Round Up® is governed by nine Lake Country Power members. Applications are available online at www.lakecountrypower.coop. The next application deadline is November 15.
